As with all building products, some care in handling is necessary. Precast material should never be dragged across each other while removing from pallets, scratching will result. Care must be taken not to chip edges. Precast material should not be restacked and left exposed to the elements, irregular curing will result. Concrete is a porous material made of natural ingredients. Over time moisture and environmental elements will absorb and could cause slight changes in the surface appearance of the product. This is not a glazed or ceramic product. Lime, salt, alkaline and other material in the sub-base could migrate to the surface of the product over time leaving efflorescence. Care must be used in the removal of the efflorescence; many products are in the marketplace to help you. Your precast product is integrally colored. Some softening and variations of the color over time is to be expected. Precast products might benefit from the application of a sealer. There are many sealers on the market, please check with the sealer manufacturers recommendations & instructions. You can request a sample from Stepstone to try your sealer on before you apply the whole job. Your precast products are hand made, wet cast material variations in size and shapes are appropriate to the products.
